Diversity South Case Study

The Client:

Diversity South is a not-for-profit organisation and NDIS registered provider based in the Peel region. Since 1994, they’ve been supporting people with disability to live meaningful and fulfilling lives at home and in their local communities. They provide disability services spanning home and living, community participation, and support coordination.

The Challenges:

The team were dealing with a range of issues stemming from IT systems that weren’t fit for purpose for the NDIS. Challenges they were facing included:

  • A lack of security framework
  • No multi factor authentication (MFA)
  • Poor antivirus protection
  • Poor SharePoint implementation

These issues needed to be addressed to build the business’ cyber resilience, support continuity in the face of threats, and simplify workflows.

The Impact ICT Difference

The Diversity South team chose Impact as their managed service provider as they were a local and skilled MSP with a reputation for high-quality customer service and responsiveness. Throughout their relationship, the team have been impressed by Impact’s willingness to work collaboratively and identify solutions. Julie, Diversity South’s CEO, reflects “They were a perfect fit for our organisation’s change management and IT upgrade. In addition, their willingness to be solution-focused and cost-effective to realise benefits for people with disability was very positive.

Since 2022 Impact and Diversity South have worked together to achieve an IT upgrade and new hardware with MFA, install firewalls, implement application controls, and deliver SharePoint training for staff company-wide. As a result, the organisation has an improved IT information security management system and robust cyber security measures including the implementation of the Essential Eight framework and User Awareness Training. Management and direct support workers are also now more confident in Diversity South’s systems, benefitting from streamlined workflows and enhanced operations.

Impact also supports the organisation with the ongoing improvement of technical security controls and the automation of auditing tasks, and there are plans in place to implement cyber security governance, risk, and compliance documentation.

Looking at their experience, Julie reflects, “Impact ICT have been wonderful to work with. The team are very solutions-focused and proactive in supporting our preparations for cyber security challenges and implementing best practices for information management security systems. Despite our team’s lack of technical literacy and proficiency, Impact has demonstrated a high degree of patience and willingness to support our workforce. They have gone above and beyond, and have always demonstrated a strong commitment to customer service in a timely and efficient way.

Lucas (Impact’s Co-Founder and Director), says “Being able to walk into an organisation like Diversity South and make such significant changes to their IT, including improving efficiency and security alongside bringing more confidence to their staff, is a not only a testament to our systems and processes but also their team’s ability to take on these challenges and run with them.
